November 2023 Board Meeting

Absentees: Michelle Natalier (marshaling), Cindy Deming, Jan Kelleher, Cindi Velasquez

President Sandy Wichelecki opened the meeting at 12:15 PM.  A motion was MSP to approve the minutes of the August 1, 2023 Board meeting.

President Wichelecki reported that this quarter the club donated $1000 to Pro Kids and SD Parks Foundation (Undertow Golf event). She also stated that the slate of club officers for 2024 has been posted on the website. Membership vote will take place next month via email.

The Board will continue marshaling on Tuesday play days. President Wichelecki stressed that Matty Reyes is to be contacted directly when public players are slowing play. In her next member communication she will instruct players experiencing slow play from the public to flag down the Board marshal, who will make the call to Matty.

John Howard and Matty Reyes joined the meeting and introduced the new acting Director, Tim Graham. Matty stated that Golf Operations is tracking our volunteer activities and he presented a spreadsheet of totals to date. There are currently 2 main areas of interest for increased participation: The Divot Program and Tournament Support Program (specifically, the Adaptive Golf Championship 5/2/24 and SD City Amateur Championship 7/13-14/24.

Additionally, they are hoping to develop a Course Beautification Program (Gardening Club) and are open to any other suggestions from our club. John Howard provided updates and timelines on current course improvements that are underway.

Reports:

Treasurer:
Treasurer Kitty Masters reported a cash balance (not reconciled) of $16,566.00 and equity of $15,051.00 as of 10/31/23.  She presented a preliminary 2024 budget, stating that the 2024 payouts for Sweeps and Tournament will be the same as this year’s for now.

Communications:
Michelle Natalier, Director is tracking volunteer hours.

VP/Tournament:
President Wichelecki reported that Cindy Deming will transition her duties to the new director next month.

Membership:
No report

Sweeps:
Director Linda Holmgren reported that, other than one member who has had 4 no shows, there have been no big issues.

Sweeps Results:
No report

Handicap:
Director, Michi Nakamura will attend a seminar on the updating of the World Handicap System. She is looking for the most effective way to address members who do not post all of their scores when playing elsewhere. She will continue to monitor.

Rules:
No report.

Website: 
Laura Borja, Director, reported that have been some recent problems with  illegitimate (phishing) emails being sent from our site.  She plans to have the site down for a short period to address this and will continue to monitor. She plans to begin work shortly for transition to the 2024 portal.

SDCWGA: MC Eastman reported that SCWGA has announced the slate of officers  for 2024. The next event is 12/4/23 at Loma Santa Fe CC.

New Business:

• The Undertow Tournament is scheduled for Monday, 2/5/2024. Saturday evening 2/3/2024 is the reception.
• The club championship will be moved from July to August.

President Wichelecki adjourned the meeting at 1:30 pm.
