Reports

President’s Report:

President Wichelecki reported that the course divot parties are occurring the third week of the month and all is going well.  She also stated that landscape plans for course garden areas have been submitted.

President Wichelecki gave an update on the Nine Hole ladies club. The club has Friday play dates at either Torrey Pines or Balboa 9 hole course and now has a website. She clarified that members must belong to both the 9 and 18 hole clubs in order to play at Torrey. The plan is to put a link on our website to theirs. Monthly hours of play for both clubs are combined in the current SUP, so it is expected that we may have access to additional hours of tee times with this arrangement in the 2026 SUP update.

President Wichelecki also reported that she now has a pace of play module in Golf Genius that makes running reports easier

Treasurer:

Treasurer, Gina Menicucci, presented an updated financial spreadsheet.

The bank balance is $30,207.37; anticipated liabilities are $16,000. Our major expense, the SD City assessment fee of $27,630, has been paid.  The majority of 2024 sweeps account payout checks have been cashed and the sweeps and tournament expenses are on budget to date.

Events:

Michelle Natalier requested input for the newsletter member spotlight section and asked that all volunteer hours be forwarded to her. The next newsletter is planned for September. .

VP/Tournament:
Director, Karen Bridges stated that the upcoming club championship is in the works. She is reviewing eligibility and has devised an equitable system for setting up the tee sheets. There will need to be a “cut” imposed on the field for day 2 on the South Course, as there are fewer tee times allotted. Four individuals with the highest scores from each division will be dropped from the field.

Membership:
Director Cindi Velasquez reported a current membership of 324 and included in that figure are a number of previous members who have renewed.

Sweeps Tee Times:

Director, Linda Holmgren stated that she is getting inquiry emails from club members and, due to similarities in names, she must do additional research to determine their identities in order to assist. President Wichelecki stated that she has addressed this issue previously in the newsletter and another reminder about the appropriate format for emails may be needed.

Sweeps Result

No report. President Wichelecki stated that the current director is unable to continue in this capacity and an interim appointment for the position is necessary.

Handicap:
Director, Michi Nakamura stated that some of the newer members have no previous club experience, so are lacking in rules and etiquette knowledge. President Wichelecki urged the Board to be mindful of this when there is an opportunity to educate.

Rules:
No Report

SCCWGA Rep:

MC Eastman advised of the County events for the remainder of the calendar year. The County website has more details.

Web:
Laura Borja, Web Director, continues to monitor hacking attempts.  She reminded those board members with club emails to use extra precautions and to contact her if a password needs to be reset.

Unfinished Business:

None

New Business:

  • Sweeps payouts for 2025. Treasurer Menicucci is hopeful that the majority of club members will be able to receive the funds via Zelle by the end of the year, instead of a paper check. This will be a 1st quarter 2026 business item.
  • 2026 Board. President Wichelecki expressed her hope that the current Board will continue in their positions for 2026, as elections will come in the next quarter. A vacancy in the sweep results position needs to be filled before the end of the year. Sandy will circulate the existing job description for any needed updates and then send an eblast to the membership asking for volunteers.

President Wichelecki closed the meeting at 1:37  PM

Respectfully submitted,

Susan Boeshart
TPWGC Secretary
