TPWGC August 25, 2026 Board Meeting
Present:

The meeting was called to order by President, Sandy Wichelecki at 12.50 PM
A motion was made, seconded and passed to approve the 4/21/2026 Board meeting minutes.
Reports
President’s Report:
President Sandy Wichelecki reported that about $3M was recently taken from the Golf Enterprise fund to offset the City’s budget shortfall. However, it is not expected that this will alter the plans to redevelop the Torrey Pines clubhouse and move the practice areas at a future date.
President Wichelecki stated that for 2027, the PGA Tour Sentry tournament is scheduled for late January but that it is likely to be held later in the year in the future.
Treasurer:
Gina Menicucci reported that the bank balance is currently $30,299.17 and anticipated liabilities are $16,090.07. In July, $1,279 was paid for insurance and this month $1,068.75 was paid to the Men’s Club for Golf Genius. All budgets are on track for the remainder of the year.
Rules:
Director Yuna Lenehan reported difficulties in accessing her TPWGC board email account. Web Director, Laura Borja will to assist in resolving the issue.
Events:

VP/Tournament:
In the Tournament Director’s absence, President Wichelecki stated that the recent Club Championship went well overall, however there were a few issues that arose. She clarified that, in the future, there will be an awards committee to announce and document the winners at the end of the event. She encouraged other board members to be present, as well.
President Wichelecki then solicited feedback from the group about several other aspects of the championship. In general, the board is in support of having members play with those of a similar handicap for this event, rather than chose their own playing partners and tee times. Also, the board is in strong support of encouraging members to confront any rules violation when it is witnessed. There was also some discussion of increasing payouts for this event, but that will be a budget decision for next year.
President Wichelecki stated she will address the issue of “protecting the field” in the next newsletter.
Membership:
Director, Cindi Velasquez, reported a current membership count of 316
Sweeps Tee Times:
Director, Linda Holmgren inquired about what length of time was needed for marshaling in order to schedule board members’ tee times on the day of duty
Sweeps Result
Director Youwen Ouyang stated that a few members are waiting until the end of the round before entering scores in Golf Genius. She has corrected them and will continue to monitor.
Handicap:
Director Grace Lee reported on a member case that required intervention with a modified handicap. The issue is largely resolved and the member is now eligible to compete in sweeps games, but Grace will continue to monitor.
Web:
Web Director, Laura Borja reminded the board to contact her with any problems encountered with board emails when adding a new device. .
SCCWGA Rep:
In MC’s absence, President Wichelecki advised of the upcoming County events. Details are available on the SDCWGA website

New Business:
- Next Board meeting is scheduled for 10/20/2026
- Name changes can be managed at any time through the year. Members should contact Membership Director, Cindi Velasquez to initiate the process
- VP/Tournament Director, Karen Bridges will coordinate with Kahleia Dillon of Coronado Women’s Golf Club in creating a master schedule of county events.
- The Board has discretion in granting membership of any interested individual
- President Wichelecki requested that board members let her know by 10/1/26 if they do not plan to serve next year.
